Everything turned out just beautiful:
The first evening is called "Locals Night" and consists of several bands performing very short sets with very little time in between for set up and sound check. Luckily we are used to flying by the seats of our pants so we managed to get through it without any problems.
Jimmy Bivens is pretty well known in the area and we have run sound for him before. His group was very laid back and easy to work with. They were also very talented and put on a great show.
The fiddle player was amazing.
The Hat Shop Band was a conglomeration of 7 stringed instruments. . . very interesting without a sound check. . .
Gloria stayed pretty active all weekend, so I'm trying not to feel too guilty about the broken arm thing. . .
This snazzy man in the hat and vest is Frank. He and his wife, Kathy, run the store behind the stage and they were very good and hospitable to us all week!
With so many different groups taking the stage during the evening, it's very helpful when the band members have good attitudes. This drummer was really great to work with. In all the confusion and lack of sound checks, I realized 3/4 of the way into his set that his monitor was muted!! He never complained once and was very happy when he could finally hear the rest of his band!!
