Sunday, Day 3 Mule Days
Sunday was another busy day. I went home early to shower and pick up a few necessities at Walmart. My mom and dad called and said they were coming out to Star to visit us. It was fun to "show off" our stuff and walk them through what we do. The first act on the stage wouldn't start until 1:00, so we thought we'd have some time to visit. My mom took a bunch of pictures that I'll post here when she sends them, so I didn't even pick up my camera once the day took off. And it took off with a vengeance. On Friday and Saturday, the acts on stage had a "dressing room" (a fancy fifth wheel) behind the stage that was supposed to remain for the acts on Sunday. Some kind of miscommunication happened and the owner of the fifth wheel picked it up on Sunday morning. This left the troupe of dancers without a place to change into their fancy clothes. After much ado, we ended up backing up our lovely 1969 box truck to the stage, and with a "drape" of camo from the army guys, we created a suitable (?) dressing room for all of the Sunday groups. The sponsor for the Sunday events was a Spanish radio station out of Caldwell. I don't think the Star chamber knew it would be like this, but everything from about 1:00 on happened in Spanish. . . The bands and groups were very nice and polite, but it the communication issues made everything just a little bit harder. Add that to the fact that it was 90 degrees and we were on day 6 of a really hard show and we didn't have much of a break until it all ended at 8:00 p.m. All of the groups wanted our contact information, though, and said we were great to work with. We are so tired!! We took down as much of the audio as we could after the event and we will have Dale's help taking the rest down tomorrow.
