Cherry Festival Tear-down

We were able to sleep in just a little bit before we started to take everything down. Dale came out around 10:00 a.m. after spending a very hectic week in Moscow for 4H Teen Conference. We were all tired and moving slowly, but we eventually packed everything away.

In many ways, this week was kind of like being at camp, except that it was more work than fun! We made great new friends that we'll look forward to seeing again next year. Our neighbor next to the stage, Jody, is a good, good man. We met him the night we pulled in and he helped us newbies fit in. He could have pulled the seniority card and treated us like rookies, but he was always more than accommodating. He even offered to move his set-up around if we needed him to for our set up. He has been setting up next to the stage out here at The Cherry Festival for the last 20 years and he treated us like we'd been there the whole time, too. Rob made friends with the whole crew and they all seemed to enjoy the energy he brought to the festival.

When it was time to settle our tab with Jody for the week, he and his wife said it was taken care of. They said they have a philosophy that when you can do something nice for someone, you just do it and then that person can pass the kindness along to someone else. Our tab had to have been well over $100 for the week and they just erased it all. It was very cool and I'm trying to find the perfect gift to send them as a thank-you. I'll also be keeping my eye out for a way to pass on the kindness. They are off to the Weiser fiddle festival this week and will have many more stops over the summer. They own Dee Jay Concessions, so if anyone that reads this comes across a corn dog stand with this name on it, be sure to stop and say hello to Jody!

All week I meant to take a picture of our "camping" spot right here next to the park but didn't actually take one until today. It really did make a nice home-away-from-home.
