Saturday Day 2 Star Mule Days

The kids slept in until about 10:00 and then walked up the road to watch the parade:

The events on the stage started at 1:00. We had cloggers and dancers and folk singers with guitars and Karoke singers with scratched CD's and family bands. . . Lori helped me run the stage and the monitor board while Rob put together two more speakers for the main evening act. It was a very hot day and I spent a lot of time running back and forth from the stage to the main mixer but I learned a lot and was very appreciative of Lori's help. I actually enjoy the stage management part of the business- getting people on and off the stage and hooking up all of the mics and instruments- I even enjoy running sound, as long as I'm dealing with not-cranky people. Lori learned a lot about running the stage and also running the monitor board while I learned a lot more about running the front-of-house stuff.

The army guys had a great climbing wall that Gloria spent a lot of time on. There was rarely a line waiting to climb, so they let Gloria go over and over again. Zach made it to the top, but I didn't get a picture:(

Gloria paid $3 for this pretty pink hair!!!

We had a very small break in the early evening in order to set up the main band for the evening. Straight Shooter is a band we met during our first year out at Nampa Nights and we've run them many, many times since. They're a great group of very talented guys. Unfortunately, they had to fire the drummer they've had for a long time and he ran out and trademarked the name Straight Shooter so they are trying to think of another name.

The lead singer, Beau, has an amzing amount of energy and is great at entertaining the crowd:

The crowd always gets into the music (that's Gloria dancing there in the middle):

With Lori's help, I ran the monitor board and the FOG machine:

We've been teaching Zach a lot about the business and he is becoming a huge help. He sat at front-of-house with Rob for awhile and ran lights:

This is Scotty Foust on the guitar:

Gregg has a great Johnny Cash voice and plays bass:

Beau singing "Simple Man":
This is my favorite picture of the whole 3-day event:

The concert ended around 12:15 a.m. even though I think the band and the crowd could have gone all night. We cleaned up the stage and packed things away for the night and had a good time chatting with the band. Gloria fell asleep in her chair by the monitor board next to the stage- pretty cute!!
Another late night but it's almost over. . .
