We have heard that there are 800 tickets that have been pre-sold, so all of these chairs should be full when the Kenny Rogers Band kicks off the main event:
The next few hours were ridiculously stupid-crazy. We had 5 different groups show up at 4:00 with their instruments for a sound check. We were given a schedule that said the first group would start at 4:30. Impossible. Rob had to stick closely to the head-liner band to make sure they had their instruments set up and had everything they needed. That left me to deal with the other 40 people. I took one group at a time and figured out what they would need and was able to get the rest of the groups lined out. Needless to say, we didn't start until 6:00 and even then, it was a miracle. All of the bands were very understanding and they each were able to play for about 20 minutes so it all worked out in the end. Everyone was aware of the fact that no one can set up and sound check 5 groups plus a headlining group in 30 minutes!!!!
This is Terry Hill and the Jazz All-Stars. They were the group that actually "opened" for the Kenny Rogers Band.
This is the Kenny Rogers Band (there's more info on www.committedevents.blogspot.com):
They were very happy with their sound.
The main event went off without a hitch. The chairs did not fill up, however, but it was still a good show. It all ended around 11:30 so we had to shut things down for the night. Rob went to ask the army guys if they had a tarp we could use and he ended up hanging out in the tank with them for awhile.
We were back in the motor home, asleep, before 1:30 a.m.
