June 12 Day 1 of 1 of Cherry Festival Set-up and Lucy

Rob is a sucker for dogs- especially round, fluffy, black puppies. So when a girl walked by with this cute little thing, Rob had to hold it. When the girl gave him her sob story about how her mom wouldn't let her keep it, I'm not exactly sure what happened next, but I do know we have a new addition to the family. Her name is Lucy:
O.k., we're all suckers for dogs!!
The kids bonded with Lucy really quickly. They even gave up buying carnival passes so we could buy puppy necessities at the local pet store.

Emma isn't quite as excited as the rest of us!

When we went to the pet store, they knew what litter she came from. She is 6 weeks old and part Black Lab, part Australian Shepherd. Did I really need something else to take care of?? Was this a wise decision??? Who knows, but she's really cute:

Oh yeah, we're setting up for the Cherry Festival. This is all much different from the event in Star. We are in a park, not a dirty, dusty field, and we don't have to set up a stage and canopy! We are camped next to the playground in a pretty, shady spot and we have an entire day (and a half if we need it) to set up lights and audio.

By evening, just about everything is finished. Tomorrow we'll hook up the monitor board and crank up the front truss. The decorating committee had no idea we would be wreaking such havoc with their decorations!!

We have a neighbor right next to the stage. Jody runs this corn dog stand and he and Rob have bonded over mutual admiration!

The kids spent the day taking care of Lucy. They aren't tired of her yet. Of course, I'll be the one up with her in the night. . .

I think we were in bed before midnight although I didn't get much sleep due to a 6 week old baby and a sense of regret. . . .
