Saturday, August 22nd, First Annual Ida-Ho-Down at Brundage. . .

Rob had a chance on Saturday morning to take his 4-wheeler for a ride. We haven't had too many opportunities this summer to do this and this was the perfect place to ride.

He had a very small window of opportunity before he had to run sound for the all-day event so he took my camera and went as far as he could. . .

It looks like it was a very interesting ride. . .

If there is a second annual Ida-Ho-Down next year, we'll have to give ourselves more time to enjoy all this. . .

The guys from Equaleyes decided to throw a big party and invite all of their friends who are also in bands and call it a festival!! They were very well organized and found ways to make it easier on us . . .

One of the things that made it easier on us was not having to put up our canopy or hang our lights. A friend of the band makes these cool Lycra sails and then runs an L.E.D. light show on them:
They also ran this blue fencing across the front of the stage so we didn't have to worry about the crowd accidentally or otherwise hurting any of our equipment.

The thing that made the whole day a lot easier, however, was the addition on a second, smaller stage that someone else ran bands on, giving us time to set the main stage between groups. Instead of racing around in front of a waiting crowd to set and sound check a band, we had about 45 leisurely minutes to get one band off and set up the next one.

They had a good schedule and a stage manager that enforced it so all we had to think about was setting up mics for each band and getting a good sound check.

We also had a nice big area off to the side to hang out in which makes a huge difference. . .

As far as festivals go, this could be one of my favorites. . .

We were familiar with many of the bands and saw a lot of the same people that were at Roseberry and Earthfest. . .

All of the bands were good. . .

Rob seemed to be pretty laid back most of the day at front of house. . .

It was good to see the Shook Twins again. . .

They're very sweet girls with a lot of talent.

Our stage had 6 different bands throughout the day running from 1:00 p.m. until 12:30 a.m. . .

The boys were on their computers all day long. . .

With Kurt on the monitor board I had time to just walk around taking pictures in between set-ups. . .

By the time Equaleyes took the stage I was pretty tired. My camera doesn't take very good pictures at night anyway and I was really too tired to care . . .

I really enjoy listening to Equaleyes but I couldn't keep my eyes open. . .

I remember thinking as I laid there sleeping that the stage could catch fire and I wouldn't be able to wake up enough to do anything about it. . .

I managed to stay awake for about half of their set and really enjoyed the light show. (The sound is terrible so turn down the volume before watching the lights. . . )

We spent a couple of hours getting a head start on the tear down and then caught a few hours of sleep before taking the rest of it down. . .
