August 28th, Brenton Brown at Worship In The Park . . .

In many respects, this was our biggest concert EVER. The Tracy Lawrence concert took longer to set up and had a bigger stage but we used more speakers per side in the line array for this event than we ever have before. Rob has been wanting to do this all summer:



I admit that I've been opposed to this all summer but that's never stopped him before. I just think it's a lot of boxes to be hanging over people's heads!! I know it's safe, though, and they did look and sound amazing.

This was our first year on this annual event but I'm pretty sure we'll have it on the calendar again next year. . .

Rob had too much fun all day during sound checks turning up the volume. . . 7 boxes per side put out A LOT of volume. . .

We were ready in plenty of time for the 11:00 a.m. sound check but things were pretty laid back so it didn't really start until closer to 1:00. There were only 3 groups on the schedule which made things pretty easy. The group that had the first sound check was made up of local worship leaders. They would be playing off and on all evening interspersed with guest speakers and the other 2 groups.

There wasn't too much stress at all. I like when there isn't too much stress. . .

The second group that sang had such a quick sound check that I barely had time to adjust their mics, much less take a picture! The main band for the evening was supposed to sound check around 3:30 but must have had some travel delays. They ended up sound checking right before start time in front of a very large crowd. No one seemed to mind! This is the Brenton Brown Band:

The event started right on time and the entire evening flowed as smoothly as could be. . .

They estimated at the end of the evening that there were 2500-3000 people in attendance. . .

The park was packed from the stage clear back to the road and from side to side!!

It was pretty cool. . .

This duo is Candi Pearson-Shelton and her husband Jonathon Shelton. . .


I hadn't heard of them before but they have been working on a few projects with Mac Powell of Third Day. I've heard of him. . .

Once Brenton Brown took the stage it was difficult to get good pictures since my camera just doesn't do well after dark with bright lights. His band was great to work with and he was very down-to-earth and genuine.

It would be so nice if we could just walk away from an event feeling great about a job well done. Unfortunately, the glory fades away as we take it all down. . .

It's especially painful when it's after midnight. . .

The earlier in the morning it gets, the more painful it becomes. . .
