Week-At-A-Glance

I would have to say that last week was one of our busiest week's ever. I think I've said that before but this time I mean it. As if we aren't busy enough with events, we ended up taking on a case order for a big company in Denver. Three double plasma cases. Three cases for six plasmas. I guess you could say this company is a little bit bigger than we are. . . We have zero plasmas. . .

On Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, I caught up on paperwork while the guys got to work on the cases. They were actually able to knock them out pretty quickly. Much quicker than when it's just me and Rob building them!! We had to put the cases on the back burner before they were finished in order to get ready for 5 events in 5 days. . .

On Wednesday we ran sound for High Street at the Nampa Civic Center.

On Thursday we had to load both trucks so we could run Nampa Nights with Rebecca Scott. . .

. . . and set up the O'Connor Fieldhouse for our yearly Caldwell Night Rodeo After Party gig.

Kurt helped set up Nampa Nights and then headed out to Caldwell in the old truck to unload and set up as much as he could before heading back to Nampa to tear down there and load the truck. . . again. We unloaded the truck in Caldwell. . . again. . . and set up for the 2-day event that would start the next evening. Lights, audio and the FOG machine. . . We set up everything we could and left around 1 a.m.

Friday morning we drove the truck and trailer to Mountain Home. . .

. . . so we could unload . . . again. . . and set everything up. . . again. . .

Stage, canopy and 2 bars of lights. It turned out pretty good and we finished up around 5 or 6 and headed back to Boise.

Back to town just in time to load more stuff in the truck to take out to Caldwell so we would be set up and ready for Straightaway to play at 10 p.m. It was a good crowd and the band played until 1 a.m. After cleaning up a bit (some drunk spilled a beer in a case!), we headed home just before 2 a.m.

Back at the shop on Saturday morning so we could load the truck. . . again. . . and set up for a band at the Qwest arena. After a good sound check, we all had a few hours before Kurt headed back to run the band at Qwest and Rob and I headed back out to Caldwell. . .

Once again, Straightaway played from 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. and really "entertained" the crowd.

After Kurt loaded up the Qwest event with Gary's very competent help, Kurt and Gary unloaded the truck at the shop (again!) and headed out to Caldwell so they could help Rob and I tear down that event and load everything into both trucks. . . again. . .

We finished up around 4 a.m., I got to sleep around 5:30 (Rob just had to go to Shari's for breakfast) and then we headed back to Mountain Home early Sunday morning (OK, it was shortly after noon but it felt like early morning) after too few hours of sleep.

We took everything down and loaded it into the truck. . . again. . . We packed up the stage, folded up the trailer and made it back to Boise just after 7:00 p.m.

We were all very tired, to say the least, but we still had these plasma cases to finish up. Everything was done except for the protective foam pads that, unfortunately, is the most tedious part of building a case. Rob and I went back to the shop and started cutting foam.

Well, I guess I wasn't a whole lot of help. . .
We left the shop well after midnight with the cases still unfinished and just a little bit of stress and worry hanging over my head. We have another busy week ahead of us and I'll have to find some energy somewhere. Maybe it's time to follow in Jered's footsteps and start drinking Monsters!!
