Bogus

Once again I have fallen way behind on my blog. I have continued to take pictures, however, so I will be back up to date soon. We have been much busier this summer than ever before. For the last 2 years June was our big month, July wasn't as big but stayed busy and August was very manageable. I expected the same thing to happen this year. June was huge. With Mule Days and Cherry Festival back to back and a few other shows thrown in there, I thought the rest of the summer would seem easy. When the July calendar filled up and we were out of town 15 out of 31 days, I assumed that the rest of the summer would seem easy. And then August hit. I honestly didn't think we could get any busier, but things have not let up at all and August could actually turn out to be our busiest month. Ever. It was a very good thing that we had a little breather at the cabin because the craziness hasn't let up once since we've been back home.

We had the good luck to work with Bogus again on Friday and Saturday. It's no fun to haul everything up the mountain but the pay makes it all worth it. We get a little bit to put in our pockets as well as 4 adult season passes to the mountain for this winter!! We definitely earned our "pay" on this event, especially since we had to bring up the stage trailer. . .

We had all day Friday to set up so we weren't pressed for time and it wasn't terribly hot. . .

We also had a great crew to help us. . . :)

It was hard work so we made sure they had lots of hammock time. . .

Putting on the canopy proved to be a little difficult up on the mountain with a little extra wind. . .

. . . But with everyone's help, we managed to pull the "roof" over to the other side to secure it down:

Once the roof is secured, ropes have to be tossed across the top and tied to the front and back truss. It's not as easy as you might think and it's usually pretty entertaining.

This time Lucy got into the act. Kurt decided to use a water bottle as a weight on the end of the rope to give it a little momentum and Lucy was sure it was a game of fetch.

We are easily entertained. . .

It was a pretty day on the mountain with a cool-ish breeze and fluffy clouds. . .

We took a little break in the afternoon and had a BBQ. The chairs and tables that were set up for the event came in very handy. . .

By the end of the day, the dogs were exhausted. . .

We were all moving a little slowly but everything was set up and ready for Saturday's event.
We even took a little time out to roast marshmallows over the grill. How Redneck is that??

The official start time of the event was 10 a.m. on Saturday morning, but the bands would not arrive until noon. Since this was a mountain bike sponsored event, there were some really nice mountain bikes that anyone could try out on any of the trails in the area. They also opened the lifts and transported the bikers up to the top. Rob and Kurt took them up on their offer and tried out a couple of very nice bikes.

They did pretty good for a couple of "old" guys. (It doesn't matter that they are both younger than me, I was too wimpy to even try. . . )

Gloria couldn't ride a bike because of her arm but she had fun riding up and down on the ski lift all day.
Kurt generously offered to take care of the first band so that Rob could have some fun on the mountain. I rode up on the lift with Rob and Gloria in order to take some pictures of the view.

Rob knew someone at the top and he offered to take our picture. The view was amazing up there.

The stage and canopy looked pretty good, too:

Unfortunately, there were a few bad accidents during the day and Life Flight had to come to the rescue.

It stirred up an amazing amount of dust and dirt. . .

All good things must come to an end and we eventually had to take it all down. For, like, the hundredth time this summer. . .

It was very late when we finally folded up the trailer so we could pull it back down the mountain. I was too sleepy to be worried about the trailer crashing and taking the truck with it as I carefully followed Rob down the hill. I'm sure we'll look back on this event in the middle of winter as we're skiing down the hill and say it was well worth it!!
