In celebration of National Ballroom Dance Month (?!), we were hired to light up the dance floor for an event aptly titled, "Mad Hot For Ballroom" on Saturday night. The stars of the show were FJ and Catherine Abaya from Seattle
http://www.abayasballroom.com/ . They definitely heated up the room:
We spent the day setting up 8 light bars and 4 elipsoidals (mini spotlights) around the room. It took all day because we had to run all of the extension cords through the ceiling. Rob went up and down a 12 foot ladder at least 200 times, moving just a couple of panels at a time. The actual performance ended at 9:00 p.m. but the open dancing continued until 11:00. Gloria
really wanted someone to ask her to dance:
She practiced her moves while she waited:
She gave up on complete strangers and started working on her dad. She begged. . .
. . . and pleaded. . .
. . . and he finally gave in. Gloria knows she has her daddy firmly wrapped around her little finger. . . He knows it too.
The tear-down went much quicker than the set-up. All in all, it was a successful event.
