January 15, 2007

We have lived in our current house since 1994. Zach was 2 years old when we moved in and Gloria came home from the hospital to this very same house in December of 1998. The funny thing is, we were too busy, too oblivious, too complacent to really get to know our neighbors. Last spring, however, Gloria discovered there were real, live kids in the neighborhood and several of them were girls her age. . . life at our house hasn't been the same since. I've had to meet the moms, kids come over to see if Zach can play, and Gloria is happy as a clam to go from house to house making new friends. (Zach and I are pretty content to have a few close friends and stay in our nice cozy comfort zones, but Rob and Gloria were placed in our lives to ensure we don't get too comfortable at any given time.) Gloria played so hard today with her neighborhood buddies that she actually took a nap. Unfortunately, she slept from 7 pm to 9 pm. . . I'm not sure when we'll be getting to sleep tonight.
Zach has gotten used to hanging out with some of the neighborhood kids and had Calvin over today to play Playstation.
