We barely had time to unpack and repack after the Art in the Park weekend before another busy weekend was right on top of us. We packed what we could on Wednesday for a set up at Hyde Park early on Thursday morning. My guilty confession here is that, for the first time in a really long time, I couldn't figure out how to get my kids where they needed to be when they needed to be there so I just left them happily at home for the day. It was the perfect day for it since there didn't seem to be anything important going on at either school and it gave them a much needed day to catch up on schoolwork (Zach) and rest (Gloria). Life had been moving at a very fast pace so it was nice for them to have a chill day anyway. Or at least that's what I have to believe to overcome the bad-mother guilt. . .
This is the third year we've provided at least something for the Hyde Park Festival. The first year it was just lights, the second year it was lights and a roof and this year it was stage, roof and lights. . . .
We set up as much as we could in Caldwell for the Indian Creek Festival but we had to get around several obstacles that slowed us down such as windy/rainy weather and pounding stakes into asphalt. . .
We did as much as we could on Thursday and finished up on Friday for the Hit Machine concert on Friday night. I don't know why I worry about these things because, in spite of the things that slowed us down on Thursday, we were ready in plenty of time for sound check on Friday afternoon. . .
We met these guys at this event last year so that made it much easier. We all knew what to expect and our expectations were met! It was a great show. (The better pictures can be found HERE)
The Indian Creek Festival started on Saturday morning. It went well. Same song, 2nd verse. Or in this case, 27th verse. (I counted- we had 27 festival days this summer!!)
Steph always cheers me up with her good company. There were a bunch of awards given at the end of the day and the rest of us were starting to pack up so Steph kept an eye on the board! She looks very professional, doesn't she??
And then we took it all down. Even the stakes. . .
We had to finish up out in Caldwell on Sunday since we had to make two trips anyway and then we headed over to the North End to run sound for Onomotopeia at Hyde Park before taking all of that stuff down!!
We finished up late Sunday night and said good-bye to our busy summer season. . . .
