It's All A Blur. . .

So much of what happened Saturday through Tuesday is a blur which is why I'm so glad I take pictures- it helps me make sense of it all. Although much of what happened in those 4 days made no sense at all. . . (It's fitting that most of the pictures I took in this time frame are quite blurry . . . )

On Saturday morning we met at the shop to make final preparations for our 2 big events and loaded the truck. We were mostly prepared but we still had some loose ends to clean up. Our 7:30 p.m. load in at the Civic Center was uneventful but took longer than we thought. This is Rob up on a lift flying our line array for the MacMaster concert:

Kurt programmed the intelligent lights:

The kid's hung out and helped when needed:

We left the center sometime between 2 and 3 a.m. with a plan to meet at the shop at 10 a.m. Sunday morning to head to the arena downtown to set up for our second big event. We were told that we could set up at 12:30 but the arena was far from ready when we arrived:

Kurt's mom came down to visit and hung out while we waited and waited and waited.

Rob had to be out at the Civic Center at 1:00 for a sound check, so by the time the arena was ready for the stage, it was just Kurt and I and the kids.

The reality of it is, this set up should have been a piece of cake- with or without Rob. However, there were too many "cooks in the kitchen" and everyone had a different opinion of where things should go. It takes us roughly 45 minutes (or less) to set up this stage but because we had to move it over and over and over. . . . it took close to 2 hours!!

My poor kids were hungry and bored. . . They made themselves a little hut with a hockey net and watched a movie. . . We spent an awfully lot of time waiting for other people to make up their minds. . . and then change them. . .

We were all looking forward to the Sunday night concert at The Civic Center so we left a few things undone at the arena and headed out to Nampa. The concert was amazing!

I won't even pretend that I took this video but it's pretty close to what we saw:

My kid's missed the show since I dropped them off at Grandma's house but Kurt's kids had a great time. I really wish this picture of Hayden getting an autograph had turned out. . . This cello player is only 14!! He was really good. . .

I did take this video and it's worth watching just to see the look on Hailey's face about half way through: :)

After the Nampa concert and tear down we went back to the shop to load the truss and lights that were added on to the arena event and ended up working through the night in order to be ready for the 7 a.m. Monday morning start time. . . I have no pictures and very little memory of that middle-of-the-night set-up but I do know that we were more than ready when the event started. . .
