In Memory of Kathy Anderson

While I'm still not sure what blogger etiquette is when it comes to death and dying, this sad news has been a big part of my life this week. We found out Tuesday night that Kristin's mom died very suddenly and it's been such a shock. Vic and I just want to scoop Kristin up and protect her from all this hard stuff. I know that's not how it works and we all have to go through the valley, but it sure is hard watching the people you love go through it. So, I'm so sorry Kristin and Gary and Megan and Andrew. . . Kathy will be missed.
This is the obituary from today's Idaho Statesman (I believe Kristin's brother, Dan, wrote it and Kristin and her father edited it):
Kathleen Kristin Anderson died suddenly of a ruptured cerebral aneurysm on Tuesday, July 3, 2007 in Boise. Kathy was born in Pocatello, Idaho on May 24, 1939 to Albert and Bernice Anderson. She grew up in Boise, and graduated from Boise High School in 1957. After attending Boise Junior College, she graduated from Oregon State University in 1961 with a degree in Home Economics. She married Dennis D. Price in 1961, and they had two children; Daniel and Kristin. Kathy taught home economics at Middleton High School, but spent most of her career as a foster care social worker for the State of Idaho. She retired in 2001 after which she enjoyed traveling abroad, spending time with her children and grandchildren, Jazzercise, card-making and scrapbooking. She was also active in her church and loved her church family. Kathy is survived by her brothers; A. Duke and David Anderson and daughter Kristin Adams of Boise, and son Dan Price of Berkeley, Calif. She had five grandchildren; Andrew, Emmanuel, and Megan Adams and Zoe and Maya Price. She was preceded in death by her parents, her brother Philip Anderson, and a grandson Emmanuel Adams. There will be a viewing today, Sunday, July 8, 2007 from 2 to 4 p.m. at Summers Funeral Homes, 1205 W. Bannock Street, Boise. A public celebration of Kathy's life will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Boise Friends Church (7751 Goddard Rd) on Monday, July 9, 2007. Kathy visited and actively supported development work in Haiti, and the family requests that donations in remembrance of Kathy Anderson be made to the Haiti Christian Development Fund (http://www.hcdf.org/). She will be greatly missed by friends and family.
