The Eye Doc

The kids had an annual check-up at the eye doctor today. This was Gloria's first eye exam- ever. I have always assumed that she inherited great eye sight from her parents (who still don't need glasses!!) and I expected her to pass with flying colors.

I'm not sure how she managed it, but I think she threw the test. She was borderline far-sighted and the doctor said he generally doesn't prescribe glasses when it's this borderline but because I had mentioned that she's a reluctant reader he thought having reading glasses might help. . . She thinks of glasses as a great fashion statement, so she was very pleased at the prospect. Of course she chose pretty pink frames that will match most of her wardrobe. . . We'll see how this all pans out when they come in next week.
Zach has been going to the eye doctor for many years now and truly has poor eyesight. His prescription needs to be tweaked every year. He is terribly near-sighted.

We actually spent most of the day at home today. We cleaned house, did laundry, and even slept a bit. I guess we have a little catching up to do. In the evening we took the dogs to the river for Lucy's very first swim. She wasn't impressed! She loved the walk on the green belt, but she didn't like the water at all. When we got back to the shop, she pretty much collapsed with exhaustion.

We'll have to try again another day. . .
