Last Nampa Nights of 2008

I know summer is finally over when we make it through the last Nampa Nights of the season. It's bittersweet, really, because Nampa Nights is an event that I actually enjoy going to. . . most of the time. . . We have made a lot of friends there over the last 5 years and I think people genuinely enjoy having us there week after week. The band that was originally supposed to play on the last evening had to cancel earlier in the week but they were able to find a replacement band: Carmel and the Closers.

We weren't sure what we would be in for with a band we had never heard of so we were pleasantly surprised to find several of our favorite players from other bands! The guitar player, Richard, plays in several bands and is a very talented singer and guitar player. He's also very friendly and told me all about his new grandbaby. It was good to see him again.

Lawson is our favorite drummer. He also plays in several different bands and is very good at what he does.

Ken Harris is an amazing keyboardist and also spends a lot of his time and efforts educating children and adults on the benefits of the arts. He's always fun to work with!

There was a good crowd . . .

. . . and Carl gave away some great prizes. Of course, we didn't win anything but there's always next year. . .

Someone even asked Kurt for his autograph!! It was a sweet little girl who has been collecting autographs all summer and, when she asked for mine last week, I explained to her that I was "just" with the sound company, not the band. Her mother was next to her and said, "We know that, but there wouldn't be a band without you so we want your autograph!" Most people don't get that. . .

It was a great way to end the season. Although the calendar is still pretty full . . .
