Work Hard, Play Hard

So much of what we do is unpredictable and often very interesting. I've learned to accept and even embrace most of the oddities of our chosen lifestyle. Last week we took the two hour trip to Baker once again to add some finishing touches to the stage that Rob built.

While we were there, Rob led us all on quite an adventure. . .

He actually had a purpose while on this adventure: we used bright pink string to measure the distance from the back of the stage all the way across the attic of the auditorium to the lighting booth at the back of the room. Eventually, we will be pulling an audio snake along the same path as the string.

This is the view of the stage that Rob built from the lighting control room:

Here we are in the control room, high above the auditorium seats:

There were plenty of twists and turns . . .
. . . and ladders. . .

Zach had the fun job of locating the tiny string that Rob would send up from a lower level. . .

. . . or through the top of a wall. . .
. . . or up and over the chicken wire. . .
Some of the ladders were a little challenging. . .

The last stop was the crawl space behind a vent where Rob will eventually replace the speaker in this picture:

Zach decided to follow him on the final journey:

On the way out of town we stopped at the city park. The kids have been seriously playground deprived. . .

I don't know if Rob has more fun when he works or when he plays. . . I think it's all the same to him. . .

Teetering. . .

. . . and tottering. . .

More ladders. . .

Why does Gloria look scared at the prospect of Rob pushing her on the swing????

I'm pretty sure Zach is wondering if this is a good idea. . .

That wasn't so bad. . .

It was a quick trip and we all had a good time. . . working. . . and playing. . .
