After our run-through, one of the kids' grandma's provided frosting and sugar cookies to reward all their hard work.
It was a great idea!!
Gloria had a little bit too much fun with it. . .
Straight back to the shop after church to help finish up the cases. These are just a few of the pictures I've taken this week as we've worked on this big order with an important deadline:
These two D.J. cases are huge and no fun to build. There is a lot of painting involved and I'm quickly becoming an expert at it.
One of the hardest parts is finding a space to let the things dry after painting them. We had them spread out over every available nook and cranny. (What's a cranny??)
There is more to these cases than just the construction. They need to be wired up with power and electronic inputs.
The customer decided to buy a couple of top-of-the-line projectors to go with this order so, even though we knew about a week in advance, the projectors didn't actually arrive until Monday. Of course, they needed a case to protect these pricey babies and we couldn't custom build it until the projectors arrived. This added a whole new dimension to getting this order out on time. It's no small thing to foam up a case to protect these. It's times like this when Rob's perfectionism is a really good thing.
The case order was completed and loaded on the customers truck by about 10:30 p.m. and we all breathed a huge sigh of relief. During the constructing of these cases, Rob visited the ER in the middle of the night when a chunk of metal flew into his eye AND he smashed his finger pretty badly when working with a hole saw. Luckily he still has a stash of Vicodin from the toothache he has yet to be seen for. . . when it rains, it pours. . .
