On Thursday we tackled the front room of the old shop where my new office will be. This room will serve several different functions. We need it to be a comfortable place for all of us to hang out since our lives often revolve around the business. There was a time, not too long ago, when we practically lived at the shop. I cooked most of our meals with a microwave, a hot plate, and an electric griddle. We added an oven to the mix last year which made a world of difference. While having the ability to fix meals at the shop saves us time and money, it has always seemed a little weird to have these things visible when customers come by. The solution we found was to build a wall in the main room to hide the appliances. Rob built the wall and added track lighting while Gloria went to work with a paint roller.

Meanwhile, Zach tackled the rest of the room. This is the corner where my office will be:
This corner will have a couch and a counter with a TV but it desperately needs a touch up.
We don't use this door at all, so Rob prepped and filled in the crevices with a little graffiti:
This is a really bad photo, but it's the only after-picture that turned out half-way decent:

It took about 6 hours, but we were all pretty happy with the results of our new, little kitchen space:

We added a tree for ambiance and decided we might just spend Christmas here. (KIDDING)

Both of the kids worked really hard but had a lot of fun while they were at it:
