Friday, July 24th at Wd River Cellars

I'm almost a month behind on my blog but I'm going to do my best to catch up because that seems to be the only way I can make sense of what has happened!! Otherwise it's all just a blur of setting up and tearing down with a little paperwork, housework, and sleep thrown in every now and then. I'll just have to keep the commentary short.

The concert at W00d River went really well. All of my worrying was for nothing.

We were (mostly) ready when the tour buses pulled in. . .

The bands traveled with their own back line so we finished up our line checks while they set up. . .

Tyler was nice enough to take a few pictures for me. . .

There's always the chance that an artist will refuse to play due to unmet rider requirements but we've been lucky not to have that happen. . . The bands loaded in without comment even though the stage the two bands had to share was pretty tiny. . .

At these types of concerts, the artist usually leaves the air-conditioned tour bus just long enough to have a short sound check and then they get right back on the bus until the concert starts. The Junkies were no exception. . .

Both bands had plenty of time to set up and sound check before the gates opened, letting in about a thousand fans. . .

Tyler got in a little practice at the lighting board since Kurt had to run monitors for Son Volt. . .

We were double booked that night so Rob had to miss this band in order to run a show at The Egyptian . . .

I wasn't familiar with Son Volt before this concert but I guess they have quite a following and have been around since 1994 . . .

They even posted a small blurb about the concert on their blog. . .

The Cowboy Junkies were on next and put on a pretty decent show. . .

They also mentioned the concert on their blog. . .

Taking it all down. . .

Rob's show, The First Annual Rock Like An Egyptian, went well except for a very small turn out but things went amazingly well at both shows considering how much work was involved. . .
