We had our 4th soccer game of this session tonight. We were beaten badly in the first three and tonight we went up against the #1 team in our league so we weren't exactly looking forward to it. The team is called the Flatliners and they play to win. When we have played this team in the past, they usually score on us early and often and we rarely have a chance to get anywhere near their goalie (note, I'm using "we" very loosely here. Rob plays, not me!!) Not only did they not score on us AT ALL in the first five minutes, but with 7 minutes left in the first half, the score was tied:

Our team was playing beautifully together- lots of hustle and great defense!! Rob made some great saves!!

Two minutes left in the first half and we were still holding our own!!

At the beginning of the second half, we are still keeping up!!

I'm surprised at how often the players on both teams are willing to sacrifice their body parts to block the goal!!

Fourteen minutes left to go and we are actually tied!! I thought we might choke at this point and get over confident but. . .

. . . more great defense. . .

. . . more great offense. . . and we score!!! We are UP with 2 minutes left to play!! This is a great game by both teams!!

Final score is 5 to 5. There are no overtimes in this league, but we are thrilled to have tied the number one team!!!! Whoo-hoo!!!
