Today we had a lot of schoolwork to make up after the craziness/illness of last week and Gloria actually woke up asking to "do" school. Both kids set to work with good attitudes and we actually accomplished everything on the list!! I love days like this!
Gloria is really stretching her brain thinking about her math problems.
Zach has been studying hard in preparation for this weekend's quiz meet.
Gloria even gave Zach his spelling test- it was hilarious!!
Later in the day, Zach decided to draw Gloria's portrait. She actually sat in pretty much the same position for about an hour while he drew a beautiful sketch:

Zach has the stomach flu. :( Hopefully it's a 24 hour bug and the rest of us won't get it. . .
Gloria took a big nap today, too, but I'm hoping it was because it was a busy weekend and not because she's catching the bug. . .

Sunday was a busy day. We had an event come up kind of last minute at the Centre on the Grove and even though Dale and Rob already had plans to be out of town for the weekend, we decided not to pass it up. We loaded the truck on Friday morning before Rob left for McCall so that everything would be ready. He drove home late Saturday night in very snowy conditions, but made it home safely by 11:00 P.M. At about 8:30 A.M. on Sunday morning, I dropped the kids off at church while Rob started unloading at the Centre. I met him down there before 9:00 and we started setting up.
The group wanted to have a sound check by 2:30 and we were making pretty good time. When the group showed up, they had the expected full drum kit, bass, and guitar PLUS 2 extra guitars, a keyboard and 11 vocalists!! They also needed video mixing and CD tracks for a children's number, a skit and as back up music for several PP presentations. I don't think people realize how long it takes to set up microphones for this many "inputs" on stage. Forutantely Rob is always over-prepared and we managed to get everyone and everything set-up just in time for the 4:45 pre-event video. We were still trying to tape down a few cables so the wait staff wouldn't trip during the 15 minute video that played as people were coming in but at the 5:00 event start time, we were ready to go. Considering we were flying by the seat of our pants getting in the next CD, or switching from CD to video clip as quickly as the video guy was putting it up, following the script for the youth skit changing the tracks at just the right moment, or setting up mics for the kids that we didn't know they needed, everything went fairly smoothly. The client was happy and we were even able to enjoy ourselves.
The skit was really good! It was done in the manner of the Blue Man Group and they did a great job with it. They even had gas powered scooters they were zooming around the room on.
The main speaker was very motivating and interesting. I'm sure our beautiful lights inspired him!

Zach is really becoming a great help on these events. Chances are good he won't ever have to work at a fast food restaurant!!

I went to Tracie's baby shower this afternoon and it was bittersweet. It's going to be very hard to say good-bye to this family that I have grown so close to when they move next month. Even though I have yet to meet these little twin babies that are growing in Tracie's belly, I miss them already. :(

Gloria loves the weekends- it means the neighborhood is full of kids again and all kinds of adventures await. Today was especially sweet for her since she's been cooped up for so long with the flu. She missed playing last weekend and even had to watch longingly while some of the girls had a lemonade stand just a few houses away. She was out the door the minute the neighbor kids arrived home from school today and I hardly saw her face until almost 8:00. (She's pretty good about checking in with me but I had to track her down a few times!!) She had dinner with her friend Allie and then begged to have Allie stay the night. 
The girls had a great time coloring and playing games until poor Allie, who gets up around 7 am for school, just couldn't take it anymore. This is the hard part of sleep-overs for Gloria- she sleeps late and goes to bed late so she is never ready for bed when her overnight buddies are!! It's not so bad when she's at her own house- she just continues on alone. . .
Zach enjoys the weekends, too- peace and quiet!! He is designing boats similar to those at the boat show out of Legos:

Tonight's event went beautifully. We can't take credit for how lovely the room turned out but I can still show a picture of it since we hung the screen in the background!!!

When I woke up this morning it was snowing and the grass was completely covered. Last week we had temps in the 50's so this was a surprise:
Rob and Dale set up a show this morning that won't actually take place until Thursday night at the Morrison Center. Our part of this big "Gala Event" is to provide a screen, projector, wireless mic and audio for a banquet and silent auction that will take place backstage before a concert by the Regina Carter Quintet. This event is being put on by the Idaho Black History Museum in honor of Black History Month.

We are flying the screen and projector which keeps the cables out of the way and gives the "stage" a cleaner look. This is a picture of the projector ready to be "flown".
