Day 2 Cherry Fest

Rob is always changing things up. I've learned to just go with the flow since, no matter how much extra work it causes, his ideas are good ones and are usually worth the extra time. He's been planning his lighting set-up for The Cherry Festival in his head for a couple of months but actually carrying it out took a little time. . .

We weren't especially pressed for time so we just started putting things together and trusted that Rob knew what he was doing. . .

He was planning to "fly" his new speakers off the truss at this event instead of putting them on a stand like he did at Mule Days so he had to custom cut steel "fly ware".

It took all day and several adjustments but Rob knew what he wanted and Kurt was willing to help him figure it out.
These are the lights that we have used as "audience blinders" in the past- they hang from the front truss pointing towards the crowd and can illuminate the audience with the touch of a button. For this event, we put colored gels over the bulbs and placed them around the back of the band shell so they filled the bowl with color. It turned out to be a great effect.

Kurt and Rob work really well together and bounce ideas off of each other until they figure out the best way to accomplish their task. They both know I don't like to "fly" things off the truss so they give me a hard time about it but they are great about making sure everything is safe and secure.

The truss configuration turned out great even though it took a lot of time and patience to get it just right:

By the time Kurt left, the truss and lights were ready to be cranked up and all we would have to accomplish on the actual event day would be the audio. Much less stress than Mule Days. . .
