Gloria and Diamond. . .

We convinced Stephy to give up one of her spring break days to come and hang out with us on the farm. I even bribed her with lunch!!

Gloria was given a different horse to ride today for reasons unknown to me but it turned out to be a really good thing. This is Diamond. He is the horse I rode back in November on the Thanksgiving trail ride. He's a beautiful, gentle horse.

Diamond and Gloria made a perfect pair. . .

I've never seen Gloria ride with so much confidence. . .

Since Gloria has an extra year of experience under her belt, Kim often uses her as an example. Today they continued to learn about jumping and Kim set up the arena in such a way that one person at a time trotted their horse through the center of the arena, "jumped" over a log on the ground, rode to the fence and turned to the right, trotted back to the other fence, back to the center and over the log again, this time turning in the opposite direction. Kim had Gloria repeat this pattern over and over and Gloria and Diamond really rose to the occasion.

She was pretty happy about the whole experience!!

On another, somewhat related, note. . .

This is Jenna. Last week she ended up with a pony that ran away. With her on it! He took off at a dead run right into the open field. She ended up being thrown off but wasn't hurt. She was a real trooper today and walked and trotted her horse as though nothing ever happened.

In spite of the crazy weather (rain, snow, sunshine, hail and wind all in the span of an hour and a half!) it was a good, good day at horse lessons. I guess we'll have to bring Stephy more often!
